This week, DEW proudly joins the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) in celebrating Women in Construction Week (WIC) 2025. Since its inception in 1998, WIC Week has become a powerful platform to celebrate and promote the role of women in the construction industry. It highlights women’s contributions, raises awareness about the many opportunities available, and emphasizes the growing presence of women in the field. With a workforce gap exceeding half a million workers, the demand for skilled professionals is higher than ever. Everyone—regardless of gender—has a crucial role to play in meeting this challenge. Over the past decade, the number of women in construction has surged by 45%, and today, women make up 14.5% of the workforce, with more women entering skilled trades roles every year. This growth is essential to combat our industry’s labor shortage and brings in additional diverse talent, helping us build a stronger, more innovative workforce. Throughout this week and every week, we recognize the hardworking and talented women on our team who are helping to build the world around us. DEW Construction Completes Bow Elementary School Project
DEW Employees Brave the Cold for Special Olympics New Hampshire
On Sunday, February 9th, seven courageous DEW employees faced the cold and snowy conditions to join the Keene Frozen Sections in a plunge into the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This daring act was in support of the 26th annual Penguin Plunge for the Special Olympics New Hampshire! DEW has been a proud supporter of the Special Olympics New Hampshire and Special Olympian Becky May for several years. Becky, an athlete with over four decades of experience in various disciplines, was chosen in 2022 to represent the Granite State on the first-ever all-women 3v3 basketball team for the USA Games, where she and her team won the bronze medal! This year’s event participants helped raise an impressive $757,081 for the New Hampshire Special Olympics. The Keene Frozen Sections emerged as the top team statewide, raising $48,355. Becky May, taking her 19th plunge, was the top fundraiser this year, bringing in $18,487 for the cause! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Keene Frozen Sections for inviting us to participate in their annual plunge event. We are truly honored to be part of your team. Ray Burns Joins DEW
Ray Burns joins DEW as a Superintendent, bringing decades of industry experience in construction supervisory positions. His extensive expertise spans government, public, and private sector projects, historical restorations, and industrial and manufacturing. Ray’s unique background will be instrumental in his new role. Ray has joined the team on the Bellows Free Academy project in Fairfax, Vermont. He will manage the field staff, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure a timely, cost-effective project completion while maintaining a safe work environment. His strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills will be key assets in achieving project success.
