Recently, students participating in the Vermont Construction Academy‘s July Carpentry Boot Camp visited DEW Construction’s North Hero Fire & Town Garage project to experience construction firsthand and learn about opportunities in the skilled trades. Hosted by DEW’s project team, the visit gave students the opportunity to tour an active construction site, meet with DEW employees and trade partners, and gain a behind-the-scenes look at how a project comes together. More importantly, the experience helped connect classroom learning to real-world construction. By seeing an active project in progress, students gained exposure to the people, processes, and jobsite conditions that shape a career in the trades—insight that’s difficult to replicate in a classroom environment. For DEW, opportunities like these are an important part of building the next generation of builders. DEW Employees Brave the Cold for Special Olympics New Hampshire
On Sunday, February 9th, seven courageous DEW employees faced the cold and snowy conditions to join the Keene Frozen Sections in a plunge into the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean. This daring act was in support of the 26th annual Penguin Plunge for the Special Olympics New Hampshire! DEW has been a proud supporter of the Special Olympics New Hampshire and Special Olympian Becky May for several years. Becky, an athlete with over four decades of experience in various disciplines, was chosen in 2022 to represent the Granite State on the first-ever all-women 3v3 basketball team for the USA Games, where she and her team won the bronze medal! This year’s event participants helped raise an impressive $757,081 for the New Hampshire Special Olympics. The Keene Frozen Sections emerged as the top team statewide, raising $48,355. Becky May, taking her 19th plunge, was the top fundraiser this year, bringing in $18,487 for the cause! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Keene Frozen Sections for inviting us to participate in their annual plunge event. We are truly honored to be part of your team. DEW’s “Stuff a Truck” Holiday Food Drive Delivers Four Truckloads of Donations
We’re excited to share the success of our latest “Stuff a DEW Truck” holiday food drive, organized by our dedicated Culture Club. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our employees and DEW’s support, we collected over four truckloads of donations—an amazing example of what happens when we come together to help our neighbors in need. DEW Employees Take the Plunge in Support of the New Hampshire Special Olympics
On Sunday, February 11th, six of DEW’s brave employees joined the Keene Frozen Sections to plunge into the chilly 38-degree waters of the Atlantic Ocean in support of the Special Olympics New Hampshire! This year, the Halloween-themed event attracted over 770 participants, making it the largest Penguin Plunge in its 25-year history. DEW has proudly supported the Special Olympics and Special Olympian Becky May, an athlete with over four decades of experience in various disciplines for several years. In 2022, Becky was chosen to represent the Granite State and play on the first-ever all-women 3v3 basketball team for the USA Games. Becky and her team took home the bronze medal! The participants in this year’s event helped raise an impressive $793,441 for the New Hampshire Special Olympics! The Keene Frozen Sections were among the top teams statewide, having raised $37,559. Becky May took her 17th plunge Sunday and was a top fundraiser again this year, bringing in $16,553 for the cause!
