Elizabeth Stillwell, Risk Management Manager was recently named the Risk Management Professional of the Year for Region 1 by the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP). Region 1 includes the New England states, New York and Pennsylvania, and its conference was held last week in Essex, Vermont. The award is given at the local, regional, and national level annually to recognize an IAIP member who has demonstrated superior knowledge in their field and professional advancement through educational pursuits. As the regional award recipient Elizabeth’s application will be considered on the international level at the Annual Convention to be held June 5-7, 2014 in San Diego.

Peter Kelley, P.E. Joins DEW Construction Corp.
DEW is excited to announce that Peter Kelley, P.E. has recently been hired as Director of Business Development. Kelley will be responsible for driving business development activities across Vermont and upstate New York while further developing existing client relations. In this role, he will work closely with Don Wells, DEW President and founder. Wells stated, “We are delighted to have Pete join our team. He possesses the important commercial and technical experience that will prove critical in assisting us to accelerate our business growth.” Kelley brings with him over 25 years of business development, project management and construction experience. His expertise includes driving targeted business development activities, developing and managing business networks, as well as scope development, planning, and leading projects. Kelley comes to DEW Construction from General Dynamics OTS where he served as a Program Manager on military contracts. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont. Kelley is actively involved in the community including serving on the Town of Williston DRB and with the University of Vermont in several capacities including chair of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, member on the Vermont Regional Board Athletic Subcommittee and mentor in the student / athlete mentor program.
Keene State Intern at Cheshire County Courthouse Construction Site
Hayley Kenyon, a Keene State College senior, has spent the past three months working as an intern at the construction site for the new Cheshire County Courthouse in Keene, NH. She spent two mornings a week on site, working alongside Rick Bushway, MacMillin’s Superintendent. Kenyon and Bushway made brief but regular visits to MacMillin’s headquarters, and recently we had the opportunity to ask some questions. I took two courses in construction management during my junior year and my teacher suggested that he could help me find an internship. I wanted to connect what I was learning in the classroom to real-life experience and knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity. I was given a choice of working on-site at the Courthouse or with a group still in the planning and preconstruction phase and chose the Courthouse even though I knew it would mean some cold mornings. What did you think you might learn? In my commercial construction classes we studied architectural drawings and how they are translated by the trades on-site. DEW Construction Corp. is proud to announce and welcome Pamela Moreau as Corporate General Counsel, Elizabeth Stillwell as Risk and Insurance Manager and the promotion of Jason DelleChiaie to Project Manager. Pamela Moreau, Corporate General Counsel: Pamela Moreau joins DEW in a newly created position as Corporate General Counsel and handles commercial contracts, real estate transactions, development, financing, collections, dispute resolution, and employment matters for DEW and its affiliates. Moreau comes to DEW with over 20 years of experience in corporate, commercial, environmental and real estate law and most recently worked for Murphy Sullivan Kronk in Burlington, VT. Moreau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Cornell Law School. Elizabeth Stillwell, Risk and Insurance Manager: Elizabeth Stillwell is the newly appointed Risk and Insurance Manager for DEW and its affiliates. She manages the commercial insurance program, project bonding, subcontractor default insurance, subcontractor prequalification, claims management, claims prevention, and contract administration. Stillwell comes to DEW after five years with Hickok & Boardman, Inc. of Burlington, VT. She is a Vermont Licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Agent and is currently working towards her Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist Designation. John Edwards, Project Manager: John Edwards has joined the company as Project Manager. Edwards brings over nineteen years of construction experience to the firm, having managed a diverse range of projects including the new Brattleboro Food Co-op Plaza and the historic Bixby Memorial Library in Francestown, NH. Edwards is currently managing the construction of the new branch of Mascoma Savings Bank in Hartford, VT. Edwards holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Engineering from Clarkson University, is a registered professional engineer in the states of VT and MA, and is certified in Healthcare Construction. Steve Hart, Project Manager: Steve Hart has joined the company as Project Manager. Hart brings over 30 years of construction experience in estimating, superintendence and project management, working with clients including the Windham and Windsor Housing Trust in Brattleboro, VT and Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH.
