Superintendent Steve Hart and President Taylor Woodward joined the Frozen Sections team on Sunday, February 12th, taking the Penguin Plunge straight into the frigid 41-degree Atlantic Ocean in support of the Special Olympics New Hampshire. For several years, DEW has been a proud supporter of the Special Olympics and Special Olympian Becky May, an athlete with over four decades of experience in various disciplines. Last year, Becky was chosen to represent the Granite State and play on the first-ever all-women 3v3 basketball team for the 2022 USA Games. Becky and her team took home the bronze medal! This year 558 volunteers helped raise more than $680,000 for the New Hampshire Special Olympics! The Frozen Sections were among one of the top teams statewide, having raised $31,600. Becky May took her 16th plunge Sunday and was a top fundraiser again this year, bringing in over $11,000! DEW is pleased to continue our support of the Special Olympics in its mission. Congratulations, Becky, and to all who participated in this year’s Penguin Plunge! Check out this video from WMUR of all the volunteers taking the plunge! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHdA-_ypoMg

Colchester High School Students Tour Williston Public Safety Project Site
DEW wrapped up a frigid last day of January with a real-world educational opportunity on-site at our Williston Public Safety Facility (WPS), in Vermont, with a group of students from Colchester High School interested in a career in the trades industry. DEW employees took the time to discuss the various career paths available in our trades and how they got to where they are now in their professions. We reviewed the drawings for the WPS facility, looked at the renderings, and then toured the site to see how the project is coming to life. Students also heard from the Vermont State Police, Staff Operations Commander, Captain Michael Manley, and the Clerk of the Works, Andy Metayer. DEW cares deeply about the development of our current and future workforce pipeline. We always enjoy opportunities like this where we can give those interested in the trades a real-life, hands-on educational experience. A big shout out to the Colchester High School students for their enthusiasm and respect and for enduring the cold weather with us that day! We hope you all had as much fun as we did with this real-world experience! Click the link below to watch a video of the day’s events! https://youtu.be/LaqXDrdFiI0
DEW Welcomes Home the Tenants at Waterfront Housing
This week marked the completion of the first phase of the Champlain Housing Trust Waterfront Housing Reconstruction project, allowing displaced tenants to return home! Over the past seven months, DEW has remodeled ten units of affordable housing, an office, a storage closet, utility rooms, and a common area on the first level of an occupied four-story building in Burlington, Vermont. DEW welcomed each resident home with a “basket” of pasta-themed goodies as a thank-you for their patience throughout the renovations. The basket contained pasta sauce from Bove’s of Vermont, pasta from Grand Isle Pasta, LLC in Grand Isle, Vermont, and a Hannaford gift card. We also presented Hannaford gift cards to the other 30 residents who have patiently endured all the noise over the last seven months! The project’s next phase will include sprucing up the corridors to the building’s second, third, and fourth floors with new paint, additional LED lighting with motion sensors, and new flooring. At DEW, we offer construction services customized to address the wide array of housing needs in the communities in which we live, work and play. Whether you’re a nonprofit interested in community housing development or a business that provides senior living opportunities, a partnership with DEW will ensure the delivery of your project from vision to reality.

Food Drive Big Success!
The holidays are a time of extending a helping hand to people in our communities who are less fortunate. A simple act of compassion and generosity such as the month-long food drive DEW Construction employees recently held can go a long way towards helping people who are struggling to get back on their feet. Employees at the DEW office in Williston, Vt., and the MacMillin office in Keene, N.H., held food drives at the main offices and at several of their jobsites. Together they collected just under 1,000 pounds of food for people who are hungry in Vermont and New Hampshire. In order to encourage participation, DEW raffled off a luncheon for one of the participating jobsites. The sites that took part in the food drives were Jay Peak Lodge & Townhomes in Jay, Vt., Peerless Clothing distribution center in St. Albans, Vt., Bread Loaf Inn at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., and 802 Toyota in Berlin, Vt. These groups, along with DEW’s corporate office in Williston, collected nearly 818 pounds of food that was donated to the Vermont Food Bank on December 12. The MacMillin office collected about 180 pounds of food at the main office as well as the Frisbee Pediatrics jobsite in Rochester, N.H. On December 12 they donated their food to the Community Kitchen Food Pantry in Keene, N.H. DEW’s company-wide food drive was led by […]
