The completed renovation and expansion at Bellows Free Academy - Fairfax, marked a major investment in creating a more modern, efficient, and student‑focused learning environment.
The project involved a significant transformation of the school’s infrastructure, including 139,663 square feet of renovations and 17,922 square feet of new additions.
The primary objectives were to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall functionality, creating a learning environment better suited to the needs of today’s students. The expansion added new facilities to the elementary and middle schools to support a growing student population and provide state‑of‑the‑art instructional spaces. The elementary wing gained five new classrooms—two dedicated to pre‑K and three to third‑ and fourth‑grade students—while four additional classrooms were added for middle and high school use. A redesigned main entrance further strengthened campus security and improved access for students, staff, and visitors.
Renovations throughout the school modernized classrooms, offices, and common areas, including updates to the science wing, band and chorus rooms, and the cafeteria. A new fire safety sprinkler system improved overall campus safety, while upgrades to lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems increased energy efficiency and indoor comfort. Updated finishes brought a fresh, contemporary aesthetic to the building. In addition, strategic reconfigurations optimized space utilization and enhanced the school’s ability to support diverse teaching and learning needs.
