A place to call home

From our Housing Clients

  • It’s not really possible in the short space to fully explain the value and professionalism that DEW brought to this project. However, every time I return to the site and see the residents in warm, safe, comfortable spaces, I am reminded of how well this project went.

    - Rich Wickman, Project Manager, Housing Vermont, West River Valley Senior Housing
  • It is with pleasure that I once again write to express appreciation for another excellent project by DEW Construction. Our project at 88 King Street had many challenges: a tight city site, poor soils, complex budgeting and administration and an 11 month schedule to name a few. DEW staff have overcome all of these obstacles, and more too numerous to go into here, with aplomb, and produced a fine building that exceeds expectations in thermal performance and general fit and finish.

    - Chris Lyon, Project Manager, Housing Vermont, King Street Housing
  • Based on our experience at Whitcomb Terrace, Cathedral Square will highly recommend DEW, especially for new developments involving public financing and challenging handicap accessibility requirements. We wish you and your firm every success in your future endeavors and look forward to working with DEW on future projects.

    - Amy Wright, Director of Development, Cathedral Square Corporation, Whitcomb Housing
  • My company has used many contractors, both large and small, and i have to say the experience with DEW was the best so far. From the pre-planning and follow up by Matthew Wheaton, to the follow through and delivery of a finished product by John Edwards and Bobby Latiolais, the process was well organized , well executed and on budget.

It’s refreshing to come to a job meeting and not only have your superintendent always in a positive mindset, but have solutions to issues that came up in the previous week, it just takes the negative energy out of the process.

    - Kevin Purcell, Purcell Properties, LLC - Multi-Family Renovation, Lebanon, NH
  • The transparency in how you do business was refreshing; this full disclosure pricing and now games put us on the same side of the table as you removed all speculation from our end on pricing. Admittedly I am on that will chase the number, probably to a fault, to make sure I’m not being taken advantage of, I didn’t need to do that with you guys because It was all above board.

  • MacMillin’s early involvement with the project as a construction manager was invaluable during the initial programming, planning, and design phases. Their understanding and forward thinking of the different building systems and costs associated with each helped -keep the design team on budget while also meeting the programmatic goals of the owner.

Once building construction started, the project team again was superlative demonstrating great skill to accomplish an invasive project while allowing the existing facility to remain operational overcoming budgetary, regulatory, and programmatic challenges throughout the entire process.

  • Once building construction started, the project team again was superlative demonstrating great skill to accomplish an invasive project while allowing the existing facility to remain operational overcoming budgetary, regulatory, and programmatic challenges throughout the entire process.

No project is without problems and MacMillin faced the issues head-on by using their expertise, knowledge, and management skills to work through the challenges to deliver the final product. MacMillin’s complete understanding of working as a team, planning ahead, knowledge of the building systems and codes, responsiveness, and tireless work ethic streamlines the entire process for everyone involved.

  • During the preconstruction phase MacMillin provided significant value engineering support and worked patiently with Scott-Farrar during a tedious period of development of finance for the project…….. A tight budget, labor challenges with sub-contractors, and engineering design issues were part of the project experience.

During the project development stage, Don Wells himself contributed to the planning, estimating, and initiation of the project. Mike Smith, Vice President, took a lead role in early stage value engineering and contracting of the subcontractors for the project, working with the budget challenges of the project. DEW provided an experienced Superintendent and a highly capable Project Manager for the construction period.

The owner is pleased with the completed product which is serving the new residents well and which demonstrates the competence of leadership and project management of the DEW/MacMillin team.

    - Eldun Munson, Member, Board of Trustees, Owner’s Representative, Scott - Farrar at Peterborough
  • After construction was complete, one more area of MacMillin dedication to a superior result for the owner was the post-construction punch list completion. The work by Taylor Woodward, the Project Manager has proven to be very important in wringing out the issues of systems integration and attending to all the fine points of fit and finish of the final product. MacMillin also has assigned a quality control specialist to these issues of fit and finish to be certain that the entire building, inside and out, meets the strictest standards of owner expectation.

    - Eldun Munson, Member, Board of Trustees, Owner’s Representative, Scott - Farrar at Peterborough
  • MacMillin turned a building, who most would have happily torn down, into a celebrated historic landmark that will stand and serve many generations to come. The end result is so jaw dropping to those who knew it before and then toured it tonight. We had a good number of our tenants who will live there tour the building. They were so excited and proud to have the opportunity to live in a such a beautiful place; it is the reason that we do this hard work. The Plantz House rehabilitation is YOUR work and you should know that you have impressed not only WWHT, the neighbors of Old Depot Road and our tenants but the larger community of Putney. I am so thankful for all that you’ve done and the patience you have maintained in the face of some really difficult conditions, with a lot of pressure.
