The twelfth annual list of the Best Places to Work in Vermont was created by Vermont Business Magazine, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Department of Economic Development, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – Vermont State Council and Best Companies Group. Designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Vermont, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce and businesses, companies (recipients) must meet a number of eligibility requirements including: Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity Be a publicly or privately held business Have a facility in the state of Vermont Have at least 15 employees working in the state of Vermont Be in business a minimum of 1 year The final rankings for each category will be announced at a special awards presentation in early spring 2019. Brattleboro Music Center recognized for Design award
Brattleboro Music Center was recently recognized for a New England AIA Design award. There were 295 entries from throughout New England. Only 18 projects were awarded honors. On behalf of all of us at DEW Construction, congratulations Scott Simons Architects on this achievement.

Vermont Public Places Award
DEW Construction Corp., Studio Place Arts, Chris Miller, Swenson Granite Company/Rock of Ages, and the Vermont Community Foundation received a 2014 Merit Award on Thursday, March 19 for the Granite Zipper Pocket Park, in Barre, VT. The Vermont Public Places Awards program was organized to honor Vermont’s public places. The Vermont Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Vermont Planning Associations, the Vermont Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Civil Engineers, Vermont Section and the Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Council initiated the Vermont Public Places Awards to recognize special public spaces, the corridors that connect them, or networks of public spaces which have been defined or enriched by planning or design, as well as regulations that promote positive, public uses and benefits. The five person Jury, consisting of one member from each of the sponsoring organizations, was very impressed with all of the entries. Jim Donovan, ASLA, representing the Jury and the organizations said, “Once again we are very pleased with both the diversity and the high quality of the submittals to this program this year. Barre City Place Project Wins Award
