We are now in the latter stages of the Essex High School and Center for Technology at Essex Project…I want to especially compliment your estimating department, who estimated this work several years ago and whose projected cost of the work has been extremely accurate.

DEW has continued to confirm our initial belief that they are the best company we could have chosen for this project. Communication, care, and the willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done, from the pre-construction phase to the completion phase, has been the highest priority for the DEW team and their subcontractors.

DEW worked very hard with the school building team to make sure this project came in on budget and on time. They were constantly providing guidance, insight, and alternatives to the design and challenges this project presented. As with any school project, the budget and time line were tight, yet we were able to come in on time and under budget. The communication, commitment, hard work and dedication shown by DEW are second to none and I would recommend them for any project anywhere.

As the owner’s representative, I have worked with DEW in construction meetings, in change orders, in debates, in budget meetings and in emergency situations; and it is important to understand that in a large school with over 1000 teenage students and 200 staff many situations happen. From the beginning, I was impressed by the professionalism, organization, and planning of DEW and their ability to manage subcontractors. Everything ran smoothly as planned and the project was completed on time even though our summer construction window was tight.

As we approach our last job meeting, I’d like to comment on our entire process with DEW. Prior to starting this construction process I heard several horror stories about the principal’s experiences during a construction process. Ours with DEW has been the complete opposite. I have found the entire experience, from July 2007 until now, very rewarding. It was one of those experiences that come out even better than you’d ever imagine. WSESU was fortunate to be partnered with MacMillin for our Middle School, High School, and Career and Technical Center. This fifty-five million dollar project signified the largest bond vote in the State of Vermont’s history, and we needed a construction manager who could assist us in meeting the expectations of our individual user groups at an operational level, and our citizen groups at a local and state level. MacMillin met our expectations by listening to our needs, working closely with administrative staff to provide budgeting and phasing for each of our individual schools.

MacMillin was sensitive to the needs of the owner, and maintained the integrity of the original former barn structure amidst major renovations and high performance upgrades.

It is rare to find a company that is still dedicated to quality craftsmanship and not just trying to squeeze an extra buck out of a customer. Our buildings are in excellent shape and our budget was kept intact.

I have worked with MacMillin’s project manager and site superintendents who have overseen our largest project, the addition and renovation to both the middle school and high school and the construction of the performing arts center. MacMillin’s knowledge and high standards have resulted in completed projects that are the pride of the Timberlane community. We had the pleasure of working with MacMillan on Phase I of the renovation work that was performed on the Mount Caesar Elementary School located in Swanzey, NH. This work was performed over the summer of 2016 with a very small time frame from start to finish. Our DEW partnership began in 2003, and since then they have completed over $40 million worth of very high quality work on the Castleton campus. They have constructed residence halls, fitness centers, a new campus center, a renovated and expanded science center, athletic complex, facilities buildings, an outdoor pavilion, and various and sundry renovation projects that have enhanced and added much value to our beautiful campus.

DEW certainly put its best foot forward for us here at Castleton. We will be opening the residence hall and fitness center next month, on time and under budget. We attribute this success story largely to the work of DEW’s Project Manager and Superintendent. We highly recommend DEW Construction Corp. for construction management and site management services. After researching the area for the best possible options to meet Community College of Vermont (CCV) needs, DEW Properties, LLC secured a combination of properties that have been joined together to provide building space and address the parking needs of the college; yet continue support the downtown community. Through creative financing and an efficient design, DEW Properties has been able to provide a lease option to the college that meets our needs for controlling expenses.
