On Wednesday, December 04, 2024, DEW Construction proudly accepted the AGC Vermont Best Builder Award for the Williston Public Safety Facility project. This recognition, in the Green Innovation & Sustainability Building, New Construction category, celebrates our team’s dedication to creating a cutting-edge facility that combines modern infrastructure with sustainable practices, all while serving the critical needs of Vermont’s law enforcement. The Williston Public Safety Facility, located on 51 acres in Williston, Vermont, is the largest state police barracks in Vermont and houses one of the state’s two Emergency Communications Centers. This state-of-the-art building, spanning 22,561 square feet, serves as the hub for multiple Vermont State Police divisions, including the Traffic Safety Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Recreational Enforcement Division, the Field Force Uniform Division, the Department of Fish and Wildlife Enforcement, and the Northern Vermont Drug Task Force. The facility’s 11,022-square-foot climate-controlled garage provides secure storage for special team vehicles and supports maintenance and utility functions. The facility exceeds Vermont’s energy code standards with advanced energy-efficient systems like a 42-well geothermal heating and cooling system, robust insulation and tight air sealing. It also incorporates a comprehensive stormwater management system, reducing environmental impact. These efforts contribute to a building designed to operate at peak efficiency while minimizing its carbon footprint. The project came with its own set of challenges. Harsh winter conditions and a complex mechanical system required innovative solutions, such […]
