The MacMillin Company is happy to announce that the restoration of the historic Francestown Town Hall has begun. The Town Hall will be undergoing a full rehabilitation including new windows, flooring, roofing, windows and mechanical, electrical and fire suppression systems. All work will be completed in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The Town Hall and Academy building was built in 1847 and constructed to accommodate two usages; the first floor hosted special town meetings and other community events, while the second floor housed a private Academy. As many as 100 students were listed as attending the private school. Prominent figures from history, including 14th President Franklin Pierce and Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Levi Woodbury, are both said to have attended the academy. The Francestown Heritage Commission helped to coordinate fundraising for the $1 million project which included private donations, town funds, and a grant from the New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program.

Hillside Village at Keene Breaks Ground
Keene, NH – The Hillside Village Board of Directors along with officials from Kelly Real Estate Investment LLC, Tsomides Associates, and The MacMillin Company, ceremoniously broke ground on Wednesday, May 10th for the new Hillside Village Lifecare Community project. About the Project: Located on a scenic 48-acre campus in Keene, NH, Hillside Village at Keene will include a Community Center, 117 Independent Living Units, 24 Apartments, and a health center with 18 Alzheimer beds, 42 Assisted Living Units and 20 Skilled Nursing beds. Amenities include multiple dining venues, air conditioning, a heated indoor pool, fully equipped fitness center, library, auditorium, beauty salon/spa, greenhouse, country store, media center, mini-theater, and covered parking. Once construction begins, the 320,589 +/- square foot community will take approximately 20 months to complete. Phased construction for various buildings is anticipated. Jim Gardner Rejoins The MacMillin Company
The MacMillin Company is excited to announce that Jim Gardner, CPE, LEED AP, of Brattleboro, VT, has rejoined the company as a Senior Estimator and will be key to our continued success. As the leader of our New Hampshire preconstruction and estimating team, he will be responsible for the oversight of all components of our preconstruction services, from preparing comprehensive estimates to working with clients and the entire project team to guarantee all commitments and promises for every project. Gardner, who has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, has 30 years of industry experience (18 with MacMillin) holding positions in numerous areas of construction including project management, preconstruction management, estimating, and business development. In 2014, he became a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) through the American Society of Professional Estimators and became a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional in 2006. Gardner left MacMillin in 2010 to work for Consigli Construction Company (Portland, ME)as Senior Estimator, and most recently worked for Landry/French Construction Company (Scarborough, ME) as Director of Preconstruction. “I’m very excited that Jim has joined our organization. MacMillin Breaks Ground on Scott-Farrar Project
The Board of Trustees of Scott-Farrar is pleased to announce that they have obtained financing for their new retirement community, Scott-Farrar at Peterborough, and plans to begin construction immediately. A ground breaking ceremony was held on Friday, June 26th. The original design for the new senior living community remains intact: the sixty-three apartments of multi-level independent living, licensed assisted living, and licensed memory care will be built as originally conceived. “We are very pleased that the construction will follow the original design under the new finance plan”, Peter LaRoche, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Scott-Farrar, is quoted as saying. The twenty-five independent living apartments are spaciously designed with fireplaces, sunrooms, and full kitchens. Residents will enjoy dinner in the main dining room with a view of the beautifully landscaped property leading down to the river. They will also have access to the art studio, exercise and fitness area, library, café and auditorium. The twenty assisted living and eighteen specialty memory care apartments will offer the care and services for those residents who need assistance in those areas.
