DEW Welcomes Home the Tenants at Waterfront Housing

This week marked the completion of the first phase of the Champlain Housing Trust Waterfront Housing Reconstruction project, allowing displaced tenants to return home! Over the past seven months, DEW has remodeled ten units of affordable housing, an office, a storage closet, utility rooms, and a common area on the first level of an occupied four-story building in Burlington, Vermont.

DEW welcomed each resident home with a “basket” of pasta-themed goodies as a thank-you for their patience throughout the renovations. The basket contained pasta sauce from Bove’s of Vermont, pasta from Grand Isle Pasta, LLC in Grand Isle, Vermont, and a Hannaford gift card. We also presented Hannaford gift cards to the other 30 residents who have patiently endured all the noise over the last seven months!

The project’s next phase will include sprucing up the corridors to the building’s second, third, and fourth floors with new paint, additional LED lighting with motion sensors, and new flooring.
