Montpelier, VT – DEW Construction was honored with an award for its Resource Protection Program at the State House on April 20, 2009. DEW, along with several other Vermont companies, was recognized by the Governor for their environmental leadership.
“Today’s recipients represent a cross-section of Vermont’s commitment to responsible stewardship of our natural resources,” said Governor Douglas. “Vermont’s rural economy is dependent on a healthy working landscape. The companies and organizations represented today are leaders in what I call the Vermont Way – where our economic and environmental heritage are inextricably intertwined.”
Some of the award winners were making return trips, while others, like DEW, joined the ranks for the first time. “All winners showed the type of initiative and innovation that drives Vermont’s unparalleled reputation as an environmental leader,” the Governor said.
DEW received their award for Environmental Excellence in Resource Conservation for their “Resource Protection Program” which incorporates recycling and salvage into its construction operations.
Members of DEW’s SHARP Committee (Safety, Health & Resource Protection Committee) along with several other DEW representatives were present at the ceremony.
