On Sunday, February 11th, six of DEW’s brave employees joined the Keene Frozen Sections to plunge into the chilly 38-degree waters of the Atlantic Ocean in support of the Special Olympics New Hampshire! This year, the Halloween-themed event attracted over 770 participants, making it the largest Penguin Plunge in its 25-year history.
DEW has proudly supported the Special Olympics and Special Olympian Becky May, an athlete with over four decades of experience in various disciplines for several years. In 2022, Becky was chosen to represent the Granite State and play on the first-ever all-women 3v3 basketball team for the USA Games. Becky and her team took home the bronze medal!
The participants in this year’s event helped raise an impressive $793,441 for the New Hampshire Special Olympics! The Keene Frozen Sections were among the top teams statewide, having raised $37,559. Becky May took her 17th plunge Sunday and was a top fundraiser again this year, bringing in $16,553 for the cause!
We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Keene Frozen Sections for inviting us to participate in their annual plunge event. We are truly honored to be part of your team. We also want to thank the following DEW teammates who participated: Safety Manager Kamron Bushway, Foreman Steven Del Signore, Assistant Superintendent Ben Klebe, Field Operations Manager Cameron Riley, Superintendent Rick Gagner, and President Taylor Woodward. We are incredibly proud of every one of you!
DEW is pleased to support the Special Olympics in its mission to provide athletic opportunities, fitness, health, friendship, and so much more for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Congratulations, Becky, and to all who participated in this year’s Penguin Plunge!
