DEW Construction Corp. is please to announce we have been hired as Construction Manager for the new Bombardier Mass Transit Facility North and West Expansion project located in Plattsburgh, NY. The project consists of two additions, a 56’ high, 64,000 sf north addition, and a 35’ high, 23,000 sf west addition to an existing industrial building/light-rail train factory. Each section will include either the extension of existing or inclusion of new interior crane systems. In addition, interior and exterior train tracks will be extended and tied into existing rail lines. Demolition of four existing buildings is necessary before the commencement of new construction. Preconstruction will start immediately with construction slated to begin December 2012. The project is designed by Wiemann Lamphere Architects.
DEW Awarded Jay Peak Resort – Stateside Projects
DEW construction is happy to announce that we have been awarded the new Jay Peak Resort – Stateside Projects. Project Description: Skier Services and Café/New Day Lodge – This is a 12,000 square foot skier service building to replace the existing Stateside Chalet. This new day lodge will include food service and seating for approximately 300 people at one time. There will be also be space for guest day-use lockers, retail, rest room facilities, ticket sales/customer service, and a ski school sales desk. Stateside Hotel Suites – This is an 84 room mid-range efficiency hotel with additional space for restaurant, retail, swimming pool and leisure area, and common area. The entire building is anticipated to be in the range of 70,000 square feet. The residential rooms are not planned to have kitchens. Lodge and Townhouses, Phase 2 – This project consists of 80 dwelling units – 20 units are in two, ten unit townhouses and the remaining are in cottage style buildings similar to the Golf and Mountain Suites project. Supporting Infrastructure – All projects have elements of common infrastructure. DEW Construction Corp. was honored by Key Bank and Vermont Business Magazine as one of Vermont’s fastest growing companies at an awards ceremony held on Monday, September 17 at the Double Tree Hotel and Conference Center. This year, DEW was recognized as one of the 10 fastest growing Vermont companies over the past 10 years, showing a growth of 358% during that period. In addition to the top 10 ranking, the annual 5x5x5 Awards recognize the five fastest growing Vermont-based businesses over the last five years in five industrial sectors: construction, food, technology, service/retail, and manufacturing. DEW has been the recipient of this award five times since 2004. The data is gathered from Vermont Business Magazine’s Vermont 100 list of companies ranked by sales, which runs in its January issue. VBM has run such a list since 1987.

DEW Construction Corp. is happy to announce that we have been recently awarded the following projects: Wal-Mart – St. Albans, VT Project Description: The new construction of an 148,000 square foot Wal-Mart store that includes a garden center, auto center, grocery and refrigerated grocery, hair salon, pharmacy and a Subway restaurant. Project Schedule: Construction will start immediately with an anticipated completion date slated for August 2013. Scott-Farrar Housing/Assisted Living Facility – Peterborough, NH (DEW/MacMillin joint venture) Project Description: The project consists of demolishing its current building ( a licensed Assisted Living Residence ) and replacing it with a new facility that consists of 25 independent living apartments, 20 assisted living apartments and 18 memory support apartments all with supporting services and common areas. Additionally, 16 garage spaces will be constructed. Project Schedule: Preconstruction will start immediately with an anticipated construction start of April 2013 and a completion date slated for September 2014. Bombardier Mass Transit Facility – Plattsburgh, NY Project Description: Project consists of the addition of a 4,950 sq.ft. steel and concrete mezzanine space to be used for additional interior parts and equipment storage; minor interior renovations to a first level office administrative area; a complete fit-up of the existing 8,000 sq.ft. second floor office administrative space; and interior modifications to the 4,350 sq.ft. second floor supply management office. DEW Completes UVM Redstone Lofts
D.E.W. Construction Corp. is pleased to announce the completion of the Redstone Lofts project at the University of Vermont. Redstone Lofts are UVM’s largest on-campus student housing complex, with two buildings and 403 beds, within 144 units. The housing is a mix of studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments. The two buildings are joined by a common room called the Lantern. UVM’s juniors, seniors, and graduate students are eligible to live in the apartments. Redstone Lofts is owned by UVM’s Catamount Housing, LLC. Redstone Development, a Burlington commercial real estate company, developed the project on the UVM campus under a long-term ground lease. Redstone will continue to manage the buildings and rental agreements. D.E.W. broke ground for the 167,000 square-foot buildings in April, 2011. Bill Wolpert of Youkel was the architect. The project was completed in July, 2012, ahead of schedule. D.E.W. has registered for and anticipates LEED Silver certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certifications are awarded by the Green Building Certification Institute to projects that meet green building practices and performance.
