On behalf of the State of Vermont, I would like to express our appreciation to DEW Construction Corp. for the beautiful rest area that they recently completed on I-89 in Sharon Vermont. That new facility, which also serves as the Vermont Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is one that we all should be very proud of. The uniqueness and complexities of the design are a tribute to the abilities of the Architect, Timothy Smith & Associates, but DEW Construction, and their many subcontractors, met the challenges head on and made an ingenious concept become a reality.

Robert J. Rea, Jr., Director of Construction, State of Vermont, Sharon Rest Area
DEW Construction, and their many subcontractors, met the challenges head on and made an ingenious concept become reality. On-site sewage treatment and recycling, along with groundwater heat source technology, added to the already challenging design elements. Please extend our gratitude to the DEW team for all of their efforts in making this one-of-a-kind project a success.
Gary Dillon, Fire Chief, Waterbury Fire Station
The new fire station not only survived the flood from Tropical Storm Irene, it came through with flying colors. We were open the morning of the flood to be able to support the Village of Waterbury residents who were devastated by the flooding. For over two weeks, members of this small volunteer fire department operated about 16 hours a day providing a service to the community. Had it not been for the new stations and the flood mitigation systems, this would not have been possible. The building is a complete system, and the system came through for the fire department and the community it serves.
Mary Burns, President/CEO, Greater Burlington YMCA
We truly appreciated DEW’s open, team approach to construction. The DEW team’s guidance through design was invaluable and I am confident that the efficiencies that your team proposed during the design process resulted in a ‘significant donation’ to this project. Additionally, your willingness to work with and coordinate those who ‘donated’ their supplies and services to the project enabled the Winooski community to have this wonderful resource.
Bob Elliot, CFO, Monadnock Economic Development Corporation
Our three-story, 49,600 GSF court house for Cheshire County Superior Court was significantly over budget after the design phase. The preconstruction team from DEW/MacMillin reviewed the plans with our team and together we developed multiple strategies that saved the project more than one million dollars, bringing the project within budget. This project would have been shelved had it not been for the tireless efforts and talent of DEW/MacMillin. As we near final completion, I am pleased to report that construction costs have been well controlled and we expect to beat the original schedule by at least two weeks. “On Schedule and under budget” are words that are seldom used to describe the status of complicated projects like this, yet our weekly in house meetings started and ended with these words, when discussing the Courthouse project.
