The DEW team’s guidance through design was invaluable and I am confident that the efficiencies that your team proposed during the design process resulted in a ‘significant donation’ to this project. Additionally, your willingness to work with and coordinate those who ‘donated’ their supplies and services to the project enabled the Winooski community to have this wonderful resource.

Our three-story, 49,600 GSF court house for Cheshire County Superior Court was significantly over budget after the design phase. The preconstruction team from DEW/MacMillin reviewed the plans with our team and together we developed multiple strategies that saved the project more than one million dollars, bringing the project within budget. This project would have been shelved had it not been for the tireless efforts and talent of DEW/MacMillin. As we near final completion, I am pleased to report that construction costs have been well controlled and we expect to beat the original schedule by at least two weeks. “On Schedule and under budget” are words that are seldom used to describe the status of complicated projects like this, yet our weekly in house meetings started and ended with these words, when discussing the Courthouse project.

With more than a dozen sub-contractors and up to 70 people working within the 95,000 square foot building, MacMillin consistently had an amazing grasp of not only the overall scope of the project coordination, but a very detailed understanding of absolutely every activity that was taking place at any given moment. The job superintendents were literally available 24/7 and every inquiry was promptly attended to with an exemplary level of professionalism. Our construction meetings were focused and direct, yet collegial and cordial, even when difficult topics needed resolution. Complex construction jobs can be very stressful and loaded with problems. The ability to have such a smooth and responsive relationship with the CM was pivotal in overseeing this most complicated project.
