Renovating A Slice of Community – Keeping a Shared Sense of Place.
Located in Downtown South Pomfret, VT, the Teago General Store is not only a landmark, but a valuable community resource – a place where locals share stories, sip coffee, read the news, and grab some lunch. DEW partnered with Banwell Architects to ensure the store remains a hub for the community in Pomfret and the surrounding undeveloped rural towns.
The project involved the full renovation of the entire store, a post office, the two apartments above the store, as well as a third-floor office. The design exudes the quintessential charm of a country store with modern appeal, including wooden bins, classic candy sold by the pound, chalkboard menus, wide board oak floors, and an expansive porch that expands over Pomfret Brook.
