The busiest LPOE in Vermont was awarded LEED® Gold certification.
The new facility, located at Interstate 91 in Derby Line, VT, provides secure and efficient operations for those passing to and from the US and Canada – equipped with state of the art security and scanning systems (Radiation Portal Monitors (RPMS), License Plate Readers (LPRs), Digital LED Signage). The newly constructed commercial inspection building features a two-bay commercial loading dock with cargo storage, scale, an inspection table, a NEXUS / Fast lobby, agricultural lab, dog kennel, and office space. The Main Port Building includes administrative offices, processing and immigration service’s, and a violator processing area. Site work included a new bus lane, site lighting, fire protection service and hydrant assemblies, water service, sanitary sewer, site drainage and storm-water management systems.
The thoughtful implementation of energy efficient and sustainable design strategies earned the newly constructed LPOE a LEED® Gold certification. In keeping with the Vermont vernacular, natural stone and wood elements are uniquely woven throughout the exterior and interior design.
