Serving Dartmouth students, alumni and the general public since 1938.
Owned and operated by Dartmouth College, Moosilauke Ravine Lodge is a cabin complex at the base of Mount Moosilauke in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. DEW was hired to demolish the original ski lodge and construct a new 11,000 sf lodge. Architecturally stunning, the lodge was built with post-and-beam construction, featuring hand-picked log timbers, and enveloped by a super-insulated shell to maximize energy efficiency. A goal of the project was to maintain the character and tradition of the original ravine lodge. The design and materials give the building its rustic character, while its shell brings sustainability goals to fruition.
On the interior the Lodge features a large central area on the main floor focused on a massive stone fireplace (the heart of the building), a commercial kitchen where students will prepare the famous Lodge cuisine, three private rooms for overnight guests and a meeting room. On the lower level, guests will enjoy the comforts of a combined library/social space, a multi-purpose room.
