DEW’s SHARP (Safety, Health and Resource Protection) Team developed the Safety Merit Award to recognize an individual or company who understands the importance of safety on our job sites. We are pleased to announce that Dolor Smith with our subcontractor Kal-Vin at Jay Peak is this year’s recipient.
Dolor was nominated by DEW Superintendent Dave Lothian. “Dolor is Kal-Vin’s safety coordinator here at Jay. Without his help over the past 12 months I do not believe our overall safety performance would be as good. He has always been very quick to respond to safety issues and always followed up on any discipline that was needed.”
Ben Spaulding, DEW’s Safety Coordinator at Jay Peak worked closely with Dolor and confirmed that he was an essential component in the overall safety excellence at Jay Peak.
Dolor, a devoted father of three children, lives in Auburn, Maine and made the weekly 175 mile trek to Jay Peak in all weather conditions.
The SHARP Team has added Dolor’s name to the Merit Award plaque and he has received $100 cash.
