Our commitment to maintaining a safe work environment is well known, from our OSHA SHARP recognition and industry-leading insurance program to our superior track record. Safety is the way we do it at DEW.
Our safety strategy
We know that a safe and injury-free workplace is a productive one — one that benefits both our clients and our workers. Our integrated program combines safety and risk management to proactively ensure a safety-first construction environment. Maintaining a culture of safety throughout our organization, all members of our field supervision team receive a minimum 30-hour OSHA training, and we provide ongoing safety training as needed for employees and subcontractors. For every project, a concise safety plan is developed.
Recognition for our safety expertise
We are proud of the recognition we’ve received for our strict adherence to safety.
In 2004, DEW became the first construction company in the nation admitted into the elite OSHA Safety, Health and Achievement Recognition Program. The OSHA SHARP program recognizes small businesses with exemplary safety and health programs that operate in high hazard industries. To date, we have zero OSHA violations.
We were also recognized as a marketplace model by being the first Vermont business to receive the Governor’s Award for Outstanding Workplace Safety (2005) in the large employer category.
Other highlights from our exemplary safety record:
- OSHA incident and DART rates consistently below the industry average
- Comprehensive insurance program with excellent loss to premium ratios
- Competitive insurance rates, including OCP and builders risk policies
- Subcontractor Default Insurance Program in effect for eligible projects
