The new fire station not only survived the flood from Tropical Storm Irene, it came through with flying colors. We were open the morning of the flood to be able to support the Village of Waterbury residents who were devastated by the flooding. For over two weeks, members of this small volunteer fire department operated about 16 hours a day providing a service to the community. Had it not been for the new stations and the flood mitigation systems, this would not have been possible. The building is a complete system, and the system came through for the fire department and the community it serves.
